Black Bear Adventures

We are really excited about our new tours and can't wait to take the Black Bear philosophy and love of big challenging rides to the Rocky Mountains! After much discussion with a team of cyclists and previous guests from Colorado we have finalized our design. Although I have been warned that this tour will be extremely challenging and may even be more difficult than our Blue Ridge Parkway Epic our consultants also said this would be a phenomenal tour and is unlike anything currently being offered by other tour operators in Colorado. Along the way we will climb over 14 named passes; Wind River Pass, Trail Ridge Road including Iceberg, Milner and Fall River Passes, Berthoud Pass, Loveland Pass from both directions, Vail Pass, Tennessee Pass, Independence Pass from both directions, Fremont Pass, Juniper Pass and Squaw Pass as we test the very core of our beings!

For 469 miles the Blue Ridge Parkway weaves, rises and falls through the magnificent mountain ranges that make up the Blue Ridge . The Parkway stretches from the Shenandoah National Park to the Great Smoky Mountains. On this tour we will climb over 45,000 feet as we cycle the entire length of the Parkway and discover the beauty it beholds.

This is our most challenging annually scheduled cycling vacation and will test even the fittest cyclists. We cycle over 480 miles and climb more than 45,000 feet in only 5 days!This tour is for those cyclists that really want to test themselves on what could possibly be the toughest tour in America.

This three day tour provides the new bicycle tourist or those with limited free time, an opportunity to sample one of the best areas in the country for cycling. The cycling opportunities are boundless and allow us to customize the experience based on the groups specific desires. The lodge we have chosen to host this tour is a beautifully constructed log cabin set among marvelous hardwoods. As on all of our bicycle tours the dining will be fabulous and there will be plenty of opportunities to explore the area.

This tour is very special to me, having spent many a vacation in the region and now calling the foothills community my home. The inns and communities I have chosen will showcase the best this area has to offer. From the quaint towns of Flat Rock and Saluda to spectacular Lake Lure. The cycling will be scenic and challenging and the inns will provide a mix of opulence and true southern comfort. I hope that you will join us on what is sure to be a fantastic journey.

This tour is hosted in one the most beautiful and vibrant cities in the world. I have titled this tour the Jewel of the Blue Ridge because it is the most magnificent city along what is arguably the most spectacular road in the world. The cycling on this tour will see us using the Blue Ridge Parkway extensively but we will also cycle some of the surrounding areas more scenic back roads. But this tour is not all about cycling, we will take time to truly enjoy this marvelous city. Options include a visit to the world famous Biltmore Estates, canoe or raft down the Broad River, and stroll around the streets of downtown with its many interesting shops and galleries. The nights will bring a new energy to the city of Asheville. We will take part in some of the areas more popular nighttime activities; listening to live music, take in a play, and of course sample some of the most diverse dining opportunities to be found anywhere.

The blend of quintessential cultural experiences include; the grand horse farms of Lexington, the arts & crafts capital of Kentucky, the largest restored Shaker community in America, and of course a trip along Kentucky's acclaimed Bourbon trail. But lets not forget the primary reason we are here, the cycling. Kentucky possesses miles of well paved, quiet back roads that rival any that I have found in the country.
