Cycling up Mt Kilimanjaro is our new MTB tour, Kilema route is the only route to the top of Kilimanjaro that you can reach by mountain bike. Our experienced guides have done a good number of successful MTB rides to the summit of Mt Kilimanjaro 5895M, the trip takes 5 days with proper acclimatization.

This activity provides physical exercise and recreational use of the natural environment with minimum impact while enhancing visitors’ experience.

Over 6 days of cycling you will experience some of Tanzania’s most beautiful landscapes, vibrant villages and wonderful cultures. From the Maasai people who inhabit the arid western plains of Kilimanjaro to the Chagga people who inhabit the foothills of the mountain you will get to discover, experience and learn about these wonderful cultures first hand. While on your journey you will traverse vast open grasslands rich in wildlife, lush green forests, farmlands, villages and towns. This will be one of the most challenging but satisfying journeys you will ever make. As the saying goes, if you don’t want to climb Kilimanjaro, cycle around it!

The Chagga people live on the foots of mount Kilimanjaro where they cultivate about 7 types of banana and arabica coffee, we will explore the banana village on MTB and enjoy banana beer and banana stew which is a Chagga people specialty.

We drive to Kibosho Cathedral Church where our tour will start. After getting the history of the big Catholic Church, we head on the east side of the Kilimanjaro mountain where the bike ride will bring you to the biggest coffee plantation in the Kilimanjaro region and then to Uru village where you will stop by a family and get to try Banana beer - this family will also prepare banana stew [banana food] , banana soup and fried banana for lunch. On the down hill ride to our finishing point 6km in the direction of Moshi town, we ride through banana and coffee farms.

Ride through the farming village of Mto Wa Mbu. You visit local farms, schools, church, milling machine, a local bar and enjoy the sights and sounds of this vibrant village. Cycle to the lake shore where there are stunning vistas of the lake, the Rift Valley Wall and small herds of wildlife.
