A 4-day e-bike ride along the Vía Verde del Aceite, a former railway greenway through Andalusia's olive country.

The Olive Oil Greenway Cycling follows the Vía Verde del Aceite, one of Spain's longest greenways, tracing the old "Oil Train" railway line from Jaén to Puente Genil through the olive-growing heartland of Jaén and Córdoba. The gentle, mostly flat railway grade takes in old tunnels and viaducts, the medieval castle town of Alcaudete, and the birdlife of Laguna Honda.

The route continues into Córdoba province via Baena, known for its extra virgin olive oil, and past the dramatic castle at Zuheros and the Sierras Subbéticas Natural Park, a UNESCO Global Geopark. A wine-tasting stop at Doña Mencía's Wine Museum adds a cultural note before the final day.

The last stage passes Civil War-era trenches, tree-lined avenues near Lucena, and vineyards of the Montilla-Moriles wine region, finishing at Puente Genil before a transfer back to Malaga.

Highlights:

  • Riding a historic railway greenway through tunnels and over old viaducts
  • Alcaudete's Knights of Calatrava castle and Laguna Honda's birdlife
  • Baena's olive oil heritage and the dramatic castle at Zuheros
  • Sierras Subbéticas Natural Park, a UNESCO Global Geopark
  • Wine tasting at the Wine Museum in Doña Mencía
  • Vineyards of the Montilla-Moriles region and an open-air agricultural museum
