Peace was settled in 1995 and ever since Croatia has made a determined effort to regain its prominence as a premier international travel destination (we did our first tour here in 1999). The seas are still crystal clear, the islands lush and the fishing villages unspoiled as ever. As you bike within these pristine conditions and through its coastal towns and islands you also discover a land rich cultural heritage. The many palaces, temples, and amphitheaters from the Roman Empire evidence this as well as the remains of its forts, fishing villages and fortified towns from the Venetian realm.

The Eternal Art & Wine Festival
During this biking tour of Tuscany you spoil yourself with traditional Tuscan cuisine and lose your sense of time as you cycle past fields of red poppies and sunflowers surrounded by cypress trees and olive groves; an agrarian wonderland.
This Italian region, best known as the heart of the Renaissance, is fully explored from memorable inns, farm stays and converted palaces. Savor full course meals and witness a cultural history dating back to the days of Italy's original inhabitants-the Etruscans.
Tuscany first attracted the Etruscans in 800 BC and each succeeding culture has added to the region's allure and charm. Marvel at the artistry of towns like Florence and Siena, which quickly give way to the rolling hills of olive groves and vineyards.
Florence, the center of the Renaissance, is the meeting point of your tour. From here we transfer south to explore the pristine beauty of the Tuscan Chianti Classico countryside. You ride along quiet country roads that wind through the hills and valleys of colorful fields of poppies, sunflowers and along the vast rows of vineyards that produce the delicious deep red Chianti wines and the crisp white Vernaccia wines of San Gimignano.
We visit medieval fortresses, ancient Abbeys, Etruscan porticos and Renaissance palazzi. One vista after another leaves a lasting impression as we ride up to hilltop towns that offer stunning panoramas of the valleys below. You glide through the surreal ashen landscape of deeply fissured hills known as "crete", into the land of Brunello wines and through the inspiring scenery from where the "English Patient" was filmed.
To visit Tuscany is to step back-to a time when people lived to appreciate the simple things in life: an orange sunset, a ripe peach, the shade of an olive tree, a church bell at dawn. As you walk through the countryside, you too will soon understand what drew some of history's greatest figures to this magical area. Tuscany is truly a feast for both the body and the spirit.

Cycle from Italy's Friuli-Venezia-Giulia into Slovenia
The Italian Alps serve as your backdrop as you bicycle along its vineyards and castle-laden foothills. Then ride into Slovenia and stay in its capital before returning to the pristine Italian Coast…simply unforgettable. Visit the historic Villas, tour its vineyards and sample the San Daniele Prosciutto of Italy's Friuli region before crossing the border into Slovenia to visit its capital Ljubljana and Europe's largest underground grotto before gliding down the Adriatic Coast back into Italy and mysterious Trieste.
Friuli-Venezia-Giulia is one of the oldest inhabited Italian regions; it is believed that the first humans here dated back to as many as 20,000 years ago. It is now an autonomous region of north-eastern Italy, bordering Austria and Slovenia, and a crossroads of the Latin, German and Slavic cultures. In the North there are the Alps, while the territory along the coasts is mostly plain. Between Trieste and the Alps there is a wide, Karst plateau, the Carso, an important battlefield in WWI, where innumerable Italian and Austrian soldiers lost their lives.
Slovenia on the other hand is a tiny country with a very diverse nature, about half the size of Switzerland, and counts just over two million people. It was on 25 June 1991 that Slovenia declared independence from Yugoslavia and even though it does not have a majestic history like many larger European nations; the past is nevertheless important. For many it is surprising that such a small nation, without kings or famous military leaders of its own, could even form, survive and carve out an independent path. But this is the result of the resilience and determination of the Slovene people, whose culture and common language have survived for centuries in this green piece of Europe.
