The former Inca Capital and Spanish colonial city of Cusco is our base for this great multi-day adventure, a place where the breathtaking history of the ancient Incas exists alongside modern restaurants and fun nightlife. From Cusco we explore nearby ruins on horse back, raft the fun grade III-IV rapids of the upper Urubamba River, visit Pisac artisan market, descend into the Sacred Valley of the Incas by mountain bike and hike the famous Inca Trail to the lost city of the Incas, Machu Picchu, before returning to Cusco for a day's rest and recuperation.

This lovely day of gentle (or as hard as you like) bike riding trip is a superb introduction into the Inca heritage of Peru. At 3650 - 3250m, this is also a perfect acclimatization ride to prepare you for your onward travels at altitude. So get off the bus and enjoy the Cusco countryside by bike.

Together with your expert mountain bike guide and mechanic, we will drive for 20 minutes, above Cusco to just outside the small village of Huayllacochca. Here, we will acquaint ourselves with our State of the Art Kona 4 double suspension mountain bikes and kit ourselves up with helmets and gloves, before getting a full instruction in the fun sport of mountain biking.

This bike ride is probably the best one-day biking trip in Peru if not the whole of South America, taking us on a largely downhill route across the Chinchero plain and into the Sacred Valley of the Incas past the spectacular Moray circular ruins and through the incredible saltpans of Maras.This incredibly scenic bike ride starts in the Andean highlands around Chinchero and ends beside the Urubamba River in the Sacred Valley of the Incas. We cycle amid traditional Andean communities where the way of life has changed very little since the Spanish arrived nearly 500 years ago...

The Abra Malaga mountain bike ride takes us from over 4400m to 2800m - That's 1600m of pure descent over approximately 20 km on the most beautiful mix of fast road and technical single track whilst all the time enjoying fantastic Andean scenery. This is truly 'a descent of a lifetime' and it is No wonder it was chosen as the site of the once yearly internationally famous Downhill race - The Mega Avalanche.

Using a charmingly converted hacienda in the Sacred Valley as our base for the entire trip (yes no camping!!) we can unpack, relax in their gardens, enjoy delicious locally produced meals and by bike, explore rarely visited ruins, experience colourful local markets plus a chance to visit the fabled lost city of the Incas - Machu Picchu...

This exceptional expedition takes you into a rarely visited part of Peru, from the shores of Lake Titicaca to the cosmopolitan traveller's city of Cusco, the heart of the Inca empire and gateway to the majestic Lost city of the Incas - Machu Picchu. Starting with acclimatisation time exploring the floating reed islands on Titicaca and a night with a local family, this route has been carefully researched to avoid the busy main roads and instead explore rarely used dirt roads and tracks through the very heart of the Andes. En route, we will visit discover charming colonial towns, huge altiplano scenery, alpacas, llamas, amazing rock formations, vast lakes and the very rare Puya Raimondii cactus. We'll also have a chance to interact with local riders for whom bikes are the preferred form of transport.
