An extended, high-mileage Kenya cycling adventure adding Lake Bogoria and a game drive at Ol Pejeta Conservancy.

The Kenya Bike Trail XL extends the operator's original Kenya route into a longer, tougher journey through the country's remote wild landscapes. Riders cover roughly 750 km over eight cycling days, averaging around 100 km daily with roughly 10,000 m of total climbing, supported by a team providing mid-morning restocks, a proper lunch stop and afternoon check-ins.

Two additional riding days take in Lake Bogoria, an area new even to past OG-tour riders, featuring hot geysers and dramatic Rift Valley scenery. The single rest day includes a game drive at Ol Pejeta Conservancy, home to the world's last white rhinos.

Nights are spent in solid-standard lodges (mostly luxury) with full sit-down dinners, no camping involved. This is a physically demanding tour aimed at experienced cyclists wanting a serious challenge without sacrificing evening comfort.

Highlights:

  • Ride roughly 750 km through Kenya's wildest, most remote terrain over 8 cycling days
  • New ground at Lake Bogoria, including hot geysers and Rift Valley scenery
  • Game drive at Ol Pejeta Conservancy to see the last white rhinos on earth
  • Daily support with mid-morning restocks, a lunch stop and afternoon check-ins
  • Overnight in solid-standard lodges with full sit-down dinners throughout

Surface and terrain:

Terrain alternates between paved and unpaved roads, with some tough sections. Average daily distance is around 100 km with roughly 10,000 m of total ascent across the trip. Front suspension mountain bikes are recommended; full suspension adds extra comfort. Not a flat or easy route.

Weather:

Trips are scheduled outside the rainy season, though occasional tropical showers are possible. Temperature varies with altitude: around 25°C at higher elevations, 30-35°C lower down. Described as manageable despite the tropical climate.

Suitable for:

Experienced cyclists seeking a serious physical challenge with proper overnight comfort, not a camping trip or luxury safari. Suited to past "OG" tour riders wanting new terrain, and newcomers who want a demanding adventure rather than a relaxed cycling holiday.
