Tour Operator Ride and Seek Bicycle Adventures
Ride across the smallest of Japan’s main islands to truly discover the road less travelled
On the Shikoku Island stage, we will cycle through the magnificent Iya Gorge and tackle Mt Ishizuchi, Western Japan’s highest peak at 1982m (6503ft). Enjoy thrilling descents, pass terraced rice paddies, traditional thatched-roof houses, and ancient villages clinging to the mountainsides.
The tour culminates with the spectacular Shimanami Kaido, a series of suspension bridges that connect small islands, offering stunning views of the inland sea and linking Shikoku back to Honshu.
Shikoku is also famous for its pilgrimage of the 88 temples associated with the Buddhist priest Kuka, known as Kobo-Daishi. Modern-day pilgrims, called ‘Henro’ by the locals, still tackle the 1200-kilometre route, many of them sporting traditional white clothing, sedge hats and kongō-zue walking sticks.
Stage 2 of the Samurai Epic
Highlights
- Share your route with pilgrims travelling in homage to the Buddhist saint, Kobo Daishi and visit some of the 88 temples that make up this 1,200-year-old pilgrimage.
- Climb over the highest mountain in Western Japan – Mt Ishizuchi (1982m / 6502ft)
- Cycle along Japan’s last pure waterway, the stunning crystal clear Shimanto River.
- Traverse the amazing 60km+ long Shimanami Kaido bikeway, a series of suspension bridges and six small islands that link Shikoku with the main island, Honshu.
Longer routes are available throughout the tour for those wanting more daily riding and elevation.

Ride along the entire Göta canal from Vänern to the Baltic Sea.
The cycling holiday starts in Töreboda and the final destination is Söderköping and Mem at the canal's outlet in the Baltic Sea. You cycle along the car-free towpath along the entire Göta canal and pass 58 locks in this 200-year-old structure. Enjoyable cycling and pleasant boat trips (3.5 hours in total) are included in the package that stretches along Sweden's blue belt.
Cycle comfortably along the entire Göta Kanal and glide along with the boat M/S Kung Sverker between Motala to Borensberg. Experience a fantastic story telling for five days. Watch sluicing, enjoy nature, take a break when you feel like it. Stop at one of the canal-side cafes. Fantastic experiences and memories for a lifetime await here.
The package includes overnight accommodation, breakfast/lunch/dinner (except in a place where it is better to choose the restaurant yourself), rental bicycles and luggage transport between the accommodations. Of course, you can opt out, but for a bicycle package like this, it can be nice to have that service for the luggage. Transport around Lake Vättern by car and boat trips (3.5 hours in total) are included in the price. This way you get a really nice canal experience with both bike and boat. A cycle boat goes across the lake Asplången on the east göta side. The journey doesn't take that long, but there you have to buy a ticket on the spot (SEK 100 per person). Feel free to stop and have a coffee at the cozy Brådtom lock while you wait for the cycle boat. We recommend that you bring your own bicycle helmet for best comfort and safety.
Cycling takes place in a stress-free and very safe traffic environment. Combine cycling with art, historical sites and local experiences. Escape everyday life and take care of each other in a romantic atmosphere.

Three Lakes, Lake Skadar, Lake Ohrid, Lake Koman, and Two seas, the Adriatic and the Ionian, to discover by bike. Experience the Albanian Alps by bike and boat.
Albania, the sunny country of Europe, just two hours away by plane, is considered the "last secret of Europe" with four UNESCO world cultural sites and is an attractive travel destination in southern Europe. For many in Western Europe, Albania is still a "terra incognita" - an unknown country. It is precisely for this reason that the country exerts a strange attraction on visitors. The fascination of the landscape, the hospitality of the inhabitants, the historical sites are all good reasons to get to know the secret of Albania. It is precisely the originality that one still encounters in this country that makes the country worth visiting.
Two seas, the Adriatic and the Ionian Sea with 350 km of coastline, three lakes, Lake Skadar, Lake Ohrid and Lake Prespa make the country very attractive and popular with western tourists.
The route mostly runs on small side roads that are mostly asphalted, with small sections also on well-paved gravel roads. There is also increased traffic on the way into the towns. This bike tour, which is full of experiences, requires a moderate level of fitness, as there are days when you will climb more than 1,000 metres. However, the bus is available for the occasional climb. We recommend wearing a bike helmet!

Pedal, paddle, and plunge your way through Japan’s southern gem, Kyushu.
This tour’s a perfect blend of active exploration and deep relaxation, taking you through the southernmost of Japan’s main islands, where volcanic landscapes meet lush green hillsides. We'll bike through serene valleys, dip into crystal-clear onsen baths, and feast on local flavors that’ll have you coming back for seconds. From ancient castles to hidden temples, you’ll uncover Kyushu’s secrets at your own pace, guided by our local legends who make you feel right at home. With a small crew of like-minded explorers, this is your ticket to a truly one-of-a-kind adventure. Are your bags packed yet?
This multi-active adventure takes you through the southernmost of Japan’s main islands, Kyushu. Our journey kicks off in the lively streets of Hakata, where the sounds of city life meet the serene vibes of nearby temples and shrines. We’ll wind our way through scenic coastal roads past sleepy fishing villages and lush mountains dotted with hot springs. Every turn leads to something new: hidden beaches, towering volcanoes, and bustling local markets. Kyushu is waiting for you to uncover its secrets, and that’s exactly what we’ll do.
Of course, we’re all really here to eat wink wink — and Kyushu knows exactly how to hit the spot. Think velvety tonkotsu ramen, spicy mentaiko (a local favorite), and the freshest catch of the day, straight from the hands of local fishermen. There’s no shortage of snacks to keep you fueled, and yes, sushi, tempura, and mochi are still on the menu for the die-hards.
At the end of the day, rest your helmet hair in traditional inns and hotels, often with hot springs to soak away the day's adventures. And with our expert Tour Leader guiding the way, you’ll get to know Kyushu in a way you won’t find in any guidebook, diving into the culture, history, and everyday life of the island.
This tour is Riding Level 2, which means you can expect to cycle an average of 25 mi (40 km) per day — and usually no more than around 35 mi (56 km) — with regular snack stops and photo breaks along the way. Roads are mostly flat, with occasional short climbs.
In Japan, we’re in for a smooth ride as almost all the roads are paved. We’ll mostly cycle along smaller roads and quiet country routes, covering roughly 75 mi (120 km) in total.
Highlights
- Get up close and personal with the Mt. Aso Volcano crater – nature’s fiery beauty
- Pedal and plunge your way to Beppu, Japan’s hot spring haven
- Stroll to the top of Mt. Yufu for serene views and a picnic atop a volcano
- Soak, unwind, and get your zen on in mud, sand, and steaming onsens
- Cycle past Shimabara Castle, cruise along the coast and paddle your way down the Nakashima River

The American cycling Dream: crossing the United States by bicycle.
Many riders have cycled the United States from East to West or the other way around. Of course, a great achievement.
It is probably a bigger challenge to traverse the United States from North to South over the dirt roads of the Rocky Mountains, following the Continental Divide. The divide of roughly 2,800 miles between Canada and Mexico splits the North American Continent in two. Drops of rain that fall on your left side flow into the Atlantic or the Gulf of Mexico. Drops on your right side will find their way to the Pacific. The drops of sweat from your brow will evaporate in the thin air of the Rocky Mountains or fall to the trail and eventually make their way to one of the two great Oceans. This is the trail of “The Great Divide” !!!
In 1998, the Adventure Cycling Association developed and published the world’s longest off-pavement cycling route and called it “The Great Divide Mountain Bike Route”. The original route starts in Banff, Canada, zigzags along the Continental Divide, climbs over isolated passes and finishes in Antelope Wells at the border of Mexico.
The Great Divide takes you through a wide variety of terrain and geographic features. You cycle through isolated river valleys, mountain forests, wide open grasslands, high desert, alpine wilderness, and, at the end of the ride, a section of the Chihuahuan Desert. Along the way you can expect to meet cowboys who drive their cattle across the prairie. You will cycle through pristine woods full of deer and elk, and of course there is always some trepidation that you may stand face-to-face with a grizzly bear. Colorado's Indiana Pass is the highest point on the route at 11,910 feet.

The location of Venice spurred creativity, imagination and exploration, and was also home to one of the most famous explorers, Marco Polo.
Marco Polo was not the first European to travel to Asia, but he was the first to chronicle his adventures and share it with the rest of the world. In the spirit of adventure, we will also explore the former Venetian Empire through food, wine, and travel. Our journey will have us circumnavigate the Adriatic Sea heading north out of Venice, with its series of islands, marshy lagoons and intriguing architecture. See for yourself why people claim this to be the most scenic coastline in the world.
We will experience the charm of the Istria Peninsula, the amazing sunsets of the Dalmatian Islands, and the unique cities of Venice, Split, and Dubrovnik. This odyssey encompasses scenic cycling routes, exquisite local food, wine, cheese and olive oils, along with amazing UNESCO cities.
