Once you start cycling in Normandy, it’s difficult to stop. This French region is a true idyll for cyclists throughout spring and summer thanks to its undulating countryside, heart-breakingly beautiful coastline and abundance of picture-perfect villages. On top of that, you’ll find excellent cycle routes throughout, particularly in the coastal region.
There are myriad cycle routes in Normandy including several major trails. Meander across the countryside for days or weeks, stopping to admire ancient abbeys and grand chateaux. Follow the beloved River Seine from the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Le Harve through the vibrant, habitat-rich Boucles de la Seine Natural Regional Park.
At low tide, pedal out to the iconic commune of Mont Saint Michel, sitting proudly in the Channel in Normandy’s far west. In the far east of the coastline, cycle atop the breathtaking chalk cliffs of the Alabaster Coast. Like Monet, Turner and Renoir before, you’ll soon fall under this area’s spell.
