Cyclists will pass through diverse landscapes, from the Arctic tundra to the rolling hills of Central Europe. Key highlights include the historic city of Berlin, the scenic Bohemian Forest in the Czech Republic, and the serene shores of the Black Sea.
The Mediterranean Route (EuroVelo 8)
This southern European route offers a sun-soaked adventure along the Mediterranean coast, stretching for over 5,900 km from Cádiz in Spain to Cyprus. Highlights include the French Riviera, the historic city of Venice in Italy, and the ancient ruins of Athens in Greece.
Times to Go
Spring (April to June) and autumn (September to October) are generally the best times for cycling these long-distance routes in Europe. During these periods, the weather is mild, and the tourist crowds are smaller, allowing for a more enjoyable experience. Summer (July to August) can be hot and crowded, but it's also the best time for high-altitude routes, such as the Iron Curtain Trail in the Alps, as the snow has melted, and the roads are accessible. Winter (November to March) is not ideal for most cycling routes due to cold temperatures and potential snow, except for coastal regions that enjoy milder climates.
