The Munnar Ride is our unique idea of setting out to show the discerning traveller a bit of the rural India. Beautifully manicured tea gardens, colourful flowers, shola forests, vegetable farms, fruit orchards and jungles form a part of 'The Munnar Ride'. Routes sometimes take you off the tourist circuit, taking you into villages past national parks, dams, lakes and tea factories.

On this trip we bike along a canal bund road amid lush green paddy fields, numerous coconut trees and lonely villages leading to the Edamalayar forests. The Edamalayar forests and the Thattekad Bird Sanctuary are famous for the numerous birds and is along the mighty Periyar river. The birds, the air and the calm breeze lifts you and rejuvenates your body & mind. Spread around an area of 25 sq km, this sanctuary has more than 200 varieties of birds which includes the large falcon, grey jungle fowl, white breasted water hen, hornbill etc. Another attraction is the Bhoothathankettu; a scenic dam site. A myth connected with the origin of this place says that this natural fortification of forests and hills was built by Bhoothams (spirit/ghosts) overnight, hence the name Bhoothathankettu (fort of the spirits).

This tour throws open a book of knowledge about Kerala's history while traveling routes less known by means of the simple two wheels of a bicycle. The flow of events is magical as you bike past monuments that stick on as living templates to the by gone era of merchants from as far as China, Europe and Africa. Off on a ferry to the Island and you're biking past large warehouses that export spices and tea. With proximity to the port, it's altogether a different story.
